The Diocese of Lancaster joins the NSSP

‘The arrival of the Schools Singing Programme in the Diocese will bring new heart to us all. I am immensely grateful for the support and ongoing encouragement coming from the National Schools Singing Programme. We are starting in the Preston schools and parishes and with time this is something that can be shared across the whole Diocese. Singing changes our mood. Music and singing is something often relatively poorly resourced in schools, particularly in primary schools and yet singing is such an important part of our lives. I may not be able to sing, but hearing others sing lifts my spirits. I am grateful to Anne Charnley for accepting a role in helping this programme happen and I look forward to being part of it myself. Whilst it is called “The Schools Singing Programme”, we must remember that schools exist as part of our parishes. I pray that this will help give new heart, not just to the schools, but also to parishes.’
