The Archdiocese of Southwark leads the way for the South

The NSSP welcomes its first diocese in the South of England. The Archbishop of Southwark, John Wilson, was already an advocate of the power of choral singing to transform the lives of children from deprived backgrounds, having witnessed the programme in action as a priest of the Diocese of Leeds. The Southwark Schools Singing Programme will begin in the areas around St George’s Cathedral in the boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth through partnerships with Catholic primary schools. As it develops, in future years Director of Music Jonathan Schranz hopes to develop another hub for singing in the South-East to serve Kent and the Medway Towns of the Diocese.
