Paisley has a new Choral Director!
Newly appointed Choral Director for the Diocese of Paisley Megan Cole writes:
‘The young people within Inverclyde Schools are well renowned for their outstanding levels of musical ability and enthusiasm for engaging in musical ventures. I myself developed my love for music within Inverclyde Schools, where I was also encouraged to engaged with, and develop my Faith.
My musical development began by singing in a number of choirs throughout my school career, as well as receiving instrumental tuition on both the piano and flute, and becoming a member of various orchestras and bands. This then led me to study at the BEd Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since then, I have worked across a range of local authorities in secondary schools, honing my craft and supporting young people in their own musical journeys.
Within my role as Choral Director, I will be working with the Primary 4 pupils in all 9 Catholic primary schools across Inverclyde. I am very excited to share my love and passion for music with the young people during my time with them, and inspire them to find a love for music too. I believe that it is vital to support children to deepen their Faith using a three pronged approach; at school, at home, and within the local parish community, and I will play a key role in supporting this spiritual development. I am highly passionate about making choral music, more specifically, religious choral music accessible to all young people and promoting the numerous social, emotional and physical benefits of singing as part of a choir.
I am very much looking forward to taking up my post and working closely with the schools, families, and Diocese of Paisley to provide the young people of Inverclyde with great opportunities and experiences.’
