Archdiocese of Liverpool SSP hosts annual School Advent Service

Earlier this month the Archdiocese of Liverpool Schools Singing Programme hosted its annual School Advent Service to a combined congregation of over 2,000 pupils and staff from schools across the archdiocese. The service was supported by a choir of 850 children from 16 of the SSP partner schools.

“What a truly amazing opportunity for the children! The Choral Directors are absolutely brilliant at ensuring the children are ready for their performance and empowering them to feel confident about their singing.” Mrs K. Price, Hope Primary School

The annual event has been running for many years and includes a gift-giving tradition from the schools to Nugent Care, a charity allied with the Archdiocese which traces its roots back to the pioneering work of Father James Nugent (1822-1905) in Victorian Liverpool.

The Archdiocese of Liverpool SSP continues to grow and has recently hired 3 new Choral Directors to help meet demand for the programme, which now reaches approximately 3,000 children in 24 schools each week.
