Archdiocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral join forces
The Archdiocese of Liverpool recently joined forces with Liverpool Cathedral to present a special concert entitled ‘Believe in You’.
Taking place in Prescot Parish Church in Knowsley, the concert featured the Knowsley Catholic Children’s Choir, Liverpool Cathedral Junior Choir and the Gilbert Scott Singers.
Both the Archdiocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral are members of the National Schools Singing Programme.
Liverpool is a city long known for its ecumenical partnership, with staff from both cathedrals working together on a regular basis to provide musical opportunities and pathways for young people across the region.
The choirs were directed by Daniel Townley (Choral Director at the Archdiocese of Liverpool) and Lynne Rogers (Liverpool Cathedral) with Stephen Mannings, Director of Music at Liverpool Cathedral, acting as compere.
Director of the Archdiocese of Liverpool Schools Singing Programme, Dr Christopher McElroy commented ‘How wonderful it was to celebrate the positive belief that singing can bring about in our young people, bringing choirs from both Archdiocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral in a festival of song!’
