First ‘away day’ for the Archdiocese of Liverpool’s area choirs
On Sunday 19 October, the children and staff of Knowsley Catholic Children’s Choir and Widnes Catholic Children’s Choir embarked on their first journey outside of the Archdiocese of Liverpool. They were travelling to Huddersfield to join forces with Huddersfield Junior Choir in St Patrick’s Church (in the Parish of the Holy Redeemer) in West Yorkshire to sing for 11am Mass.
Mass was a joyful celebration of the progression of the young singers in all three choirs – some as as young as five years old – with music by Daniel Justin, Mervyn Cousins and NSSP patron, Sir John Rutter.
After Mass, the children from the Archdiocese of Liverpool enjoyed an afternoon of bowling at The Light in Huddersfield before travelling back to Merseyside. A great time was had by all and the day out together really helped to grow in faith and community.
Parents from Knowsley and Widnes commented:
‘my daughter can’t stop talking about all of her friends and the awesome church she visited’
‘… has had such a wonderful day and hasn’t stopped talking about it. Thank you for the excellent organisation and for taking such good care of all the children.’
