RNCM and NSSP launch accredited qualification for Trainee Choral Directors
The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), in association with the NSSP, is launching a new PGCert for Trainee Choral Directors. This course combines experience in a school classroom with thorough training in vocal leadership and music education philosophy, theory and practice. The studies are rooted in the RNCM’s flexible Master of Education/PGCert and placements are facilitated by NSSP partners.
This vocal specific programme aims to support newly employed Choral Directors within NSSP organisations, especially those with limited experience of teaching and ensures that the workforce pipeline is as strong and diverse as possible. Studies are split between on the job training in schools and after-school choirs, and study at the RNCM. The taught components are spread over six weekends during the year so that the Trainee Choral Directors can be in schools during the week.
The NSSP is pleased to be able to offer some additional grant support to employers taking on Trainee Choral Directors. Please contact office@nssp.org.uk for further details.
