The NSSP brings the joy of singing to 300 Inverclyde children

Since October 2022 NSSP funding has enabled the Diocese of Paisley to offer more than 300 Primary 4 children from nine Inverclyde schools the opportunity to develop their singing voices and knowledge of sacred music. Led by Choral Director, Jane Howie, the children have participated in weekly singing sessions. These have aimed to develop the children’s voices and enable them to participate more fully in singing church and other choral music.

Head Teachers have commented on the positive impact that the sessions have had for the children in their schools:

‘The children have gained so much confidence in singing through the choral project. They sing beautifully together and are so enthusiastic. It has been a joy to watch them grow and develop.’
‘I am delighted that our children have been given the opportunity to participate. They now sing so well at Mass. They stand out!’
‘It has had a such a positive impact on my pupils. This helped them to sing so well when they received the Sacrament of First Eucharist.’

The Diocese of Paisley are delighted to be engaging with the NSSP and are enthusiastic about future development of the programme.
